Neil Floyd started collecting entertainment, sports and historical memorabilia over 60 years ago. He took his acute senses, and together with his personal interests and a knack for attention to detail, turned them into a business.
In the late 1960s Neil Floyd, GhostDrummer©, was living and working in New York with professional musical artists in helping them ‘find the tune’ in late 1960s and still continues today. In subsequent years he penned the name GhostDrummer© and later got copyright approval. He is considered a specialist in his ability to help musicians fine the tune and is called upon as the #1choice by Producers, Arrangers, Engineers and Band Members as a specialist to “Fix it before the mix”. He has worked with numerous talented and gifted artists: Muhammad Ali, Joe Cocker, Peter Frampton, Stevie Wonder and Bob Walters, just to name a few.
In 1979 after months on tour he returned to New York where he was approached by the NYPD after having seen his acute precision at the local club was asked to be a Deputy Inspector, assist as backup on raids and such. This eventually led him to work with Frank Serpico and also led him to engage with the Forensics team who noticed his discerning eye for detail. In the late 1980s, Floyd moved back to Montreal but still frequented New York.
As a teenager, Floyd became interested in collectibles, entertainment/sports/historical memorabilia and has many personal pieces dating back to the 1930s. Over several years he has been working on his own methods of deciphering and finding inconsistencies with musical instruments, fine arts and scammers on sites like eBay, he decided to visit McGill University with his life’s work and challenges. In 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Forensics for Lifetime Achievement. Floyd is an avid collector of guitars, some previously owned and played by famous musicians, artwork from masters and other assorted collectibles. On a daily basis you’re likely to find Floyd looking for the good, bad and ugly in all aspects of a collectible from checking signatures, serial numbers for musical instruments, and testing himself on the year, make and model of most vintage American classis automobiles and motorcycles.
